My name is Maria Ellis and I live in Coos Bay , Oregon. I attend church at the Refuge Church of God. My husband and I are currently serving as S.A.F.E. Ministers, and have been for the past eight years. We started out in our home through The North Bend Church of God. We have been leading twelve years now . My husband and I have been serving our local prison with the S.A.F.E program for the last three years. We have experienced many many salvations coupled with transformed lives.
SAFE came long at a very critical time in my life. I found myself sitting in jail looking at 20-50 years, I had no hope, and my outlook was very bleak. I had lost everything, my children, my home, belongings, and some family members had a very low opinion of me and my life style. I was arrested in August 2008 with 5 felonies, 3 of them being A felonies for dealing. In January of 2009, I went to my first SAFE class and found a place of peace.
If it were not for the Transformation Principle program I would have never turned my life over to Christ. The Transformation program began to help me understand how deal with my emotional problems and encouraged me to always look to God for answers.
I have never felt so happy and content with my life. Accepting Jesus --and experiencing His forgiveness-- was the best and most amazing decision I’ve ever made!
I knew that I needed help or I wouldn’t be around much longer. We contacted a Christian in-patient program in Portland, OR called the Transformation Principle. I interviewed over the phone and was accepted, but I had to be there within three days. The Lord put a series of events together that only He could, and somehow I got there in time. I remember being sick, in withdrawals, and wanting to leave. But, three days later, I finally said, “yes” to Jesus. I hit my knees and asked the Lord to come into my life.
Slowly, my life started to change. I was actually reading my Bible, attending church and Transformation group meetings.
